Originally Prioratsky Palace was done as the residence of the prior of Maltese Order, whom than had been French emigrant Prince Konde. But he had never lived in Gatchina so Prioratsky Palace was never used in its original purpose - it was just a pavillion for rest.
Fortunately, the Palace was not ruined or badly demarged during the World War II.
In 2003 its restoration was almost completed and it was opened to the public.
